Dear Park Home Protection,

It's now some two and a half years since I approached you about whether a 'CAT' was suitable for fitting to a static caravan. You will recall that the reason for asking was that our own caravan was showing signs of corrosion to the chassis, even after only eighteen months and the manner in which it was sited, ie into a hill side, rendered the option of attempting to treat this problem by painting totally impractical.

I had viewed other static caravans on our site which had been left with unprotected chassis and had observed that after as little as ten years much of the chassis structures had corroded completely, rendering the vans virtually unmovable, unanchorable and effectively unusable from a safety point of view.

Your confident reply that a 'CAT' could indeed be fitted with a positive result, combined with your efforts to secure a suitable transformer, in order that the unit could be used directly from mains electricity, eventually persuaded me to part with cash and fit your product, even though I was still apprehensive as to what the results would be.

The first twelve months of fitting did indeed show very positive results and as a result I purchased a further 'CAT' unit from you, also to be fitted to the caravan chassis, as a 'belt & braces' approach to ensuring as much protection as possible.

The results of having the 'CAT' fitted have far exceeded my expectations. Corrosion has been virtually stopped in its tracks.

Yes, the original corrosion is still evident, although it has changed in its form and appearance but, more importantly, the two 'test sites' where I ground the chassis down to bare metal are still uncorroded and showing the shiny bare metal.

I also fitted two iron hinges to the chassis. One was in direct contact with the chassis structure and the other was suspended, not touching. It won't surprise you to know that the suspended metal is very corroded and the one in contact with the chassis is like new.

I can say with full confidence that the 'CAT' will vastly extend the usable life of my caravan and will undoubtedly reflect in the resale value of any caravans to which they are fitted. To my mind they are the perfect way to protect a caravan, in that they do what they say they will, are easy to fit and need no maintenance other that the odd check to ensure that power is still being supplied to the units.

Please feel free to show this letter to any person who shows interest in the 'CAT' as it may help to overcome their doubts about using something 'unusual'. I would also be happy to offer them a personal testimonial if you should ever wish to forward me their address or e-mail address

Many thanks for your assistance

To whom it may concern,

Due to the appearance or rust on the split chassis of my five year old chalet I decided to have a Park home corrosion protection Kit fitted.

The kit comprised of two heavy duty Cats and a Watson power unit and was fitted in October 2008.

To check if the unit was working correctly, I fitted a test piece comprising of two ‘L’ shaped mild steel brackets, one of which was attached to the chassis the other suspended alongside with a plastic tie-wrap this having no contact with the chassis.

To date there has been a very slight appearance of rust on the attached bracket, whilst the unattached is heavily corroded.

As this chalet is sited on the west coast of Scotland close to the sea, I feel that the Cat system will reduce the progression of rust on the chassis.
