The System

Park Home Protection agents follow a prescribed process to ensure that consistent and effective results are achieved. The treatment of your park home will be as follows:

  1. Wash the chassis using a pressure washer. This removes residual salts which act as an activator to future corrosion attacks. Corrosion cells are more aggressive the stronger the concentration of salts in solution, hence the reason why rust is always worse by the sea. The obvious procedure of washing is often neglected when treating corrosion.
  2. Oxycon The treatment of existing rust with the application of Oxycon. This highly effective rust converter/primer stabilises the rust in readiness for painting. However, in less aggressive environments where direct water attack is not present the co-polymer finish is sufficiently durable to be left uncoated.
  3. Application of Zinga to galvanised chassis. PHP carry equipment which can measure the thickness of the galvanised coating on the chassis. If the thickness has depleted to a level approaching 20 microns it will need reloading in order to restore protection. The rate of depletion can be as high as 8-10 microns a year in aggressive locations so reloading may advisable at a higher level of thickness. This is excellent product has been tested and approved by Landrover for repair to their galvanised chassis it also carries BBA certification.
  4. Corrosion Block Apply Corrosion Block as appropriate. There will always be some areas that cannot be treated by Oxycon or Zinga either due to their location or situation e.g. welds and seams. The excellent penetrant qualities of Corrosion block ensures that even these locations can have the excellent level of rust protection. It is very efficient in protecting exterior electrical connections and fitments from corrosion. This product was created initially to stop corrosion in the seams on commercial aircraft such as Jumbo jets. It will need re-applying approximately every 18 months.
     
  5. CAT Fit the CAT electronic system. This system developed over 25 years ago has been well proven in the automotive, mining and industrial applications world-wide. It normally operates in conjunction with a 12v battery supply. However, it has now been married up to a 240v to 12v power supply and has been shown to be very effective in ongoing tests on Park homes in Dumfries. Once fitted it can be forgotten. It will not affect any home electrics and is very cheap to run as it only draws 250ma at 12 volts. The Cat will stabilise existing rust and slow the onset of new corrosion by at least 80%.
  6. Capt Tolley Captain Tolley's creeping crack cure is excellent at sealing leaks on seams, windows, doors etc. It was designed and used on boats initially to cure those difficult to find deck leaks etc. This makes the product ideal for prophylactic treatment of the seams joints on park home as it will penetrate deeply into unsealed areas and form a flexible sealed joint. It will not replace mastic or silicon sealants for larger gaps but for those crack like faults it is ideal. The system requires that all corner, door and window joints are offered the solution and only those where a fault is present will it be absorbed.
  7. Periodic pressure washing of the chassis is recommended in order to reduce the build up of corrosion causing salts and re coating of the Oxycon may be necessary at locations which are exposed to aggressively corrosive elements.
  8. It is also advised that ventilation is encouraged in the space under the park home. These are often totally enclosed by plywood or similar and can cause a humid atmosphere to develop, which will often accelerate corrosion.
  9. Zinga Each of the products used within our system is well tested and proven but each has its limitations. It is by combining their qualities that their limitations are reduced and the overall level of protection is raised to a very high level. It is very difficult to estimate the period of guarantee for this system as it is a mixture of technologies. We give a three year replacement guarantee on the Cat electronic rust inhibitor. The remaining products are subject to re-application, cleaning and environmental improvements and should offer a high level of protection beyond the 3 years. The Park Home Protection system is unlike coating systems which once applied are passive and can breakdown allowing corrosion to re-start and continue quietly unseen. It offers an active system which when correctly applied will give ongoing protection. It does not hide or cover rusted areas which mean that you can see what is going on and react to any developments.
